Nanaimo Youth Soccer Club is proud to present the Select for ages U16 (born 1995), U17 (born 1994), U18 (born 1993) for both boys and girls. Tryout dates will be posted shortly, but registration will be effective the March 3.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Please note, that select teams are formed with players from inside the NYSC. Evaluations are conducted through the NYSC technical department in conjunction with guest coaches as evaluators.
Select teams and players are the responsibility of the NYSC. These teams are not "owned" by the coach, parents or managers. All select teams will be formed, and approved with the NYSC technical department and final approval is completed by the NYSC board. All team rosters for these age groups noted above are approved by the NYSC board prior to announcing a final team roster to the players.
Team formation and final approval will only move forward if the final conditions are met:
- There are a minimum of 15 players qualified to play on the specific age group team
- Qualified players are: players that have been evaluated and the technical department has determined that the level of play from the players selected meets the appropriate skill level to play Select Soccer in the Upper Island.
- There must be a minimum 15 players in attendance during the evaluation process for the technical department to consider a team moving forward.
- Any age group with less than 15 players registered to attend evaluations will be given 2 weeks to try and find more players to attend to make the minimum.
- If the minimum cannot be met within the 2 week extension, then the age group and gender will not move forward with a select team, but players will be encouraged to participate in the higher level age group as an option. Remaining players will be allocated to club teams in their respective age groups.
- The boards final approval of the team, based on the feedback from the evaluating coaches and the Technical Director, is the final decision. If the board declines a team based on the merit of the evaluations, this will result in the final decision. These decisions will be forward to Upper Island executive to inform them of the number of teams selected to participate.
- Coaches are selected based on the application form. Coaches will be selected on the application criteria, and an interview process (if so required)
- Coaches are responsible to coach the team under the criteria set out by the NYSC technical department, which will include using the Long Term Player Development model, as well as further information as required.
- Coaches will be responsible to portray NYSC in a positive, responsible manner.
- Players and the team are the property of NYSC, and are required to follow all rules, and policies within the NYSC. Any player, parent, manager or coach not in compliance of NYSC, UISA, BCSA rules or policies will be removed from the team, and not able to return until approved by the NYSC discipline committee. Rulings from the discipline committee may include removal from the team or the club.
- The board reserves the right to update, change policy as it sees fit to ensure LTPD is being actively conducted.
- All board decisions are final and will be treated as such
